A Typical Day

Check-In
8:30

Mechanics
9:00 - 10:40

While graphics are important, even more essential are mechanics, the rules that govern the gameplay. During this period, you’ll learn to design mechanics and to code them in a modern programming language. When combined with the Resources period, you’ll experience the entire development process.

Arcade
10:40 - 11:30

You’ll play the latest and greatest commercial games in the first-person and real-time strategy genres, not just to take a break, but also to create a context in which to understand the curriculum.

Lunch
11:30 - 12:00

You’ll bring your own lunch or purchase it on-site. More than one option is usually available, to please even the pickiest of eaters.

Resources
12:00 - 1:40

During this period, you’ll learn to design and produce the graphics for your environments, characters and other objects. Of course, this is just a guideline, since the curriculum is customized to each student. In other words, you’ll always be challenged whether attending for two days, two weeks or even two months.

Fresh Air
1:40 - 2:30

You’ll enjoy a break from the screen as you go outside to play a game or just talk with friends.

More Arcade
2:30 - 3:20

More Mechanics
3:20 - 5:00

Check-Out
5:00 or 8:00

Lan Party + Dinner
5:30 - 8:00

If you stay the entire day, you’ll compete for prizes in organized game tournaments. If you don’t, you’ll wish you did. There’s no additional fee besides the cost of dinner, if purchased. And several dinner options are provided each evening by the venue and local-area restaurants.

Curfew + Breakfast
8:30 - morning

While most day students consider this camp to be their “highlight of the summer,” it’s just a fact that overnight students generally have even more fun! If you do stay overnight, you’ll share a room with other students of the same gender, around your age. Of course, if you come with a friend that you’d like as a roommate, you can tell the director when you arrive. And if you need assistance during the night for any reason, you can reach a nearby staff member anytime. In addition for overnight students, a complimentary breakfast buffet is provided each morning by the venue. By the way, this is a perfect first-time-away-from-home experience, as for some unknown reason, homesickness is rarely a problem here.

Schedule may vary.
